Best known as the home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum where visitors can learn about all things baseball -- and even visit the Heroes of Baseball Wax Museum which features life size wax figures of some of the greatest players of all time -- Cooperstown has much more to offer than baseball. This town just four hours north of New York City also features the Farmers' Museum which offers a peek into the life of an 1840s rural village and farmstead, a carousel, and old-fashioned games. For art lovers, the Fenimore Art Museum offers an extensive collection of folk art and American art. Other nearby towns feature the Northeast Classic Car Museum and the Petrified Creatures Museum of Natural History, and all this is set on Otsego Lake where you can enjoy great summer recreational activities.
